The present hole has reached an area of almost one million square kilometers since it was first spotted back in February according to a press release by the European Space Agency

The ozone levels measurements in the affected area have dropped abruptly.
This drop in the ozone is unusual for several reasons... It is a well known fact the holes form every year in the Antartic , where  temperatures are much lower than in the Artic, it is a fact that since the year 2011 no ozone leyer holes have been recorded over the North Pole region.

Scientists that form part of the Copernicus Program devoted  to monitoring planet Earth vital signs sponsored by the European Space Agency have declared that they are not sure why the Artic region present ozone hole  is so large.

Vincent-Henri Peuch, one the European Space Agency research is optimistic ... he declared the the big ozone layer hole will begin to close by next week as we advance into the Northern Hemispher summer season.
