On his Twitter account, Cuban Ambassador in this country Alejandro Garcia highlighted his meeting with Minister of Education of Bahamas, Jeffrey Lloyd, to whom he expressed his willingness to continue cooperation and increase actions in different areas.
Lloyd deemed invaluable Cuban teachers' contribution and particularly mentioned special education teachers, who together with those of technical and professional education have been working in this nation since August, 2003.
In this meeting, both parties highlighted the renewal of the memorandum of understanding between the ministries of Education of both countries, which also includes cultural exchange among students.
The Cuban diplomat was accompanied by Jose Reinel Garcia, representative of the Ministry of Education for cooperation with this neighboring Caribbean country.
At present, roughly 55 Cuban teachers of the Felix Varela Brigade are teaching Bahamian children, teenagers, and young people.
This educational cooperation started with special education in the 2003-2004 school year, and since then, more than 200 Cuban teachers have worked in this nation.
Today, Cuban teachers are working across Bahamas. They are teaching French and Spanish, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as well as technical specialties: drawing, graphic communication, agronomy, and mechanics, among others.
